Emerald Exhibition - Spyglass - Bill Gannon, Deiter Irving & Friends

Yeppoon artist Bill Gannon and Lismore artist Dieter Irving have strong ties to Central Queensland and are known for their artistic expeditions following the paths of Ludwig Leichhardt and Matthew Flinders throughout Queensland.

In recent years Dieter and Bill sketched at the Salvator Rosa section of Carnarvon Gorge National Park. That section was named by the explorer Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1846 after the 17th Century Italian artist, Salvator Rosa. He also named a remarkable summit which had 10 metre wide hole in its sandstone ridge, Spyglass Peak.

Spyglass is the result of this latest expedition.

Spyglass will be on display from 23 September until 18 October 2024.

Gallery opening hours: Mon – Fri 8.30am – 5.00pm
